As an Engineer (f/m/d) in Mechanical Engineering or Physical Technology, you will join the Vacuum Group at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and work on the mechanical components of the BESSY II storage ring and its successor. Together with your team, you will help ensure the reliable operation of our accelerator facilities for researchers from around the world. You can look forward to diverse tasks in a technically demanding environment and the opportunity to contribute your expertise to the further development of complex large-scale scientific facilities.

Your Tasks

• You will be responsible for the specification and technical conception of complex components in the field of vacuum technology.
• You will assist in the manufacturing process, commissioning und acceptance of system parts.
• You will maintain and further develop our vacuum and magnet systems.
• You will be responsible for procurement processes including writing requests for quotation, awarding contracts, company visits, and company evaluation.
• You will write specifications, support the company during production, and monitor the schedules.

Your Profile

• A bachelor's degreein Mechanical Engineering, Physical Technology or equivalent
• Knowledge of the design of complex assembly units using 3D CAD systems (preferably Pro/ENGINEER)
• Knowledge of finite element analysis (preferably Pro/MECHANICA oder ANSYS)
• Knowledge in the field of UHV technology
• Knowledge in digital measurement and control technology
• German and English skills at level C1
• Independent and self-reliant way of working

Fixed term contract for 36 months. The salary is based on the Collective Agreement for the German Public Service (TVöD-Bund).
