Environment Health Safety Lead

We are looking for an experienced and driven EHS Lead to support the delivery of a high-profile data centre construction project in Berlin, Germany. Working closely with the EHS Manager and project leadership team, you will play a key role in implementing environmental, health, and safety programmes across site operations. This position requires a strong on-site presence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with contractors and project stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and day-to-day management of the project's Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) management system.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with company policies, client requirements, and local legislation.
• Monitor contractor activities and provide guidance to ensure safe systems of work are followed at all times.
• Assist with incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training to project personnel.
• Maintain accurate EHS documentation, records, permits, and compliance reports.
• Work closely with the EHS Manager, construction teams, and subcontractors to proactively identify and mitigate workplace risks.
• Promote a positive safety culture by engaging with site personnel and encouraging active participation in EHS initiatives.

Key Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an EHS role within construction, with significant exposure to data centre projects.
• Previous experience working on large-scale construction projects, preferably with a General Contractor (GC).
• Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of German and EU health, safety, and environmental legislation applicable to construction projects.
• Relevant EHS certifications such as NEBOSH, SIGEKO, or equivalent qualifications.
• Experience conducting site inspections, audits, incident investigations, and delivering EHS training.
• Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in German and English.
