Estimator

In this role you will lead detailed cost estimates aligned with project scope and design information. You will translate technical documentation into reliable estimates and identify cost drivers and risks. You will develop competitive unit rates and validate pricing with suppliers and databases. You will collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to reflect accurate scope and support project decisions. You will contribute to estimating standards, mentor junior staff, and drive continuous improvement across the estimating function.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates from design information and project scope
• Analyse technical docs, drawings, specs, and plans to identify cost drivers and risks
• Evaluate estimating assumptions and identify opportunities and risks impacting cost and budget
• Develop, review, and finalise unit rates and pricing per market conditions and project needs
• Obtain and validate pricing from suppliers, subcontractors, databases and other sources
• Review historical cost data and benchmarking for variances and trends
• Prepare material take-offs from engineering drawings and project docs
• Review contract documentation to understand scope and cost implications of changes
• Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure estimates reflect project scope
• Support project reporting with estimate revisions and cost-change explanations
• Present estimating results and commercial analyses to management and stakeholders
• Provide guidance to junior/intermediate estimators
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and best practices
• Perform additional duties to support successful project delivery

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a comparable technical discipline
• 8–10 years of professional cost estimating experience on multidisciplinary projects
• Strong pre-contract estimating experience for large infrastructure, energy, industrial, or commercial construction
• Proficiency with estimating software and cost databases (e.g., CostX, Candy, Causeway or comparable)
• Ability to interpret complex engineering/technical docs and translate to reliable cost estimates
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Experience working with clients and managing stakeholder relationships
