As Expert - Energy Storage System Solution and Architecture, you will lead the development of next-generation ESS/BESS architectures for utility-scale, commercial & industrial, and renewable-enabled applications. You will define end-to-end system architectures, translate grid and market needs into specifications, and ensure coherence across batteries, PCS, DC/DC, protection, and plant control. Your role bridges research, product strategy, and engineering to shape future BESS offerings for Europe, emphasizing efficiency, safety, and scalability. You will collaborate with Huawei HQ and European partners to advance technology roadmaps.

• Define and evolve end-to-end system architectures for utility-scale, C&I, renewable co-location and high-power applications such as AI data centers
• Translate market, grid, and application requirements into system-level requirements and optimized product configurations
• Develop and optimize AC- and DC-coupled system architectures and their DC-side specifications
• Analyze grid codes and system requirements; design coordinated control concepts for batteries, PCS, DC/DC converters and plant-level controllers
• Drive system modeling and evaluation using MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, PLECS, PowerFactory or equivalent
• Lead cross-disciplinary integration and support prototype development, CHIL/PHIL testing, and validation
• Track European grid codes and standardization activities; provide insights for product development
• Collaborate with Huawei HQ and European partners to develop technology roadmaps and foster external collaborations

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Energy Systems, Control Engineering or closely related field
• Typically 10+ years of industrial or applied R&D experience in battery energy storage or grid-scale power systems
• Deep expertise in BESS architecture, power conversion, grid integration and related subsystems
• Proven experience defining complex system architectures and translating requirements into technical specs
• Strong ability to translate grid and application requirements into system architecture
• Solid expertise in power electronics, grid-connected storage, grid codes and grid-forming controls
• Experience with system modeling and simulation (MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, PLECS, PowerFactory)
• Hands-on prototype development, system integration, testing, validation, or product development
• Proven technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration in international teams
