Field Application Engineer (Sensors)

We are looking for an experienced Field Application Engineer to become a trusted technical partner to customers across Germany.

Sitting at the intersection of engineering and commercial development, you will help customers select, evaluate and integrate sensor technologies into their products. You will combine hands-on technical problem-solving with a consultative approach, translating complex engineering capabilities into practical solutions and clear business value.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical contact for customers and distribution partners throughout design-in, development and production ramp-up.
• Analyse customer requirements and recommend suitable humidity, gas and ultrasonic sensing solutions.
• Conduct system architecture, schematic and layout reviews.
• Troubleshoot technical issues at both component and system level.
• Help customers optimise product performance and resolve integration challenges.
• Support sales engagements, RFQs and design-win activity with credible technical expertise.
• Deliver product demonstrations, technical presentations and application workshops in person and virtually.
• Develop sample software and support proof-of-concept projects, evaluations and customer trials.
• Provide technical training to customers, distributors and internal sales colleagues.
• Produce application notes, reference designs and supporting technical documentation.
• Capture customer and market feedback for Product Management and R&D.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Product Management and Quality teams.
• Support new product introductions and customer-readiness activities.
• Represent the business at trade shows, customer events and technical forums.
• Travel to support customers and channel partners across the Europe, with occasional international travel.

Your Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Physics or a related technical discipline.
• C-level German.
• At least five years’ experience as a Field Application Engineer, Application Engineer or in a comparable customer-facing technical position.
• Strong understanding of sensor technologies and their practical applications.
• Experience troubleshooting electronic products at component and system level.
• Previous involvement in OEM design-in cycles.
• Experience supporting distributors or other channel partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Confidence using Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams and database applications.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
