Service Site Manager
Key Responsibilities
As a Service Engineer, you will support the common ABB process control systems (800xA, Freelance, AC800M, Melody) at our customer sites according to work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines. You will be in close cooperation with customers and other ABB teams, acting as the technical point while delivering quality and satisfying customer service.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing routine maintenance and on‑site or remote technical support. You will be mainly accountable for:
- Performing service tasks like installation and commissioning of equipment, identifying technical problems, and analyzing remote or on‑site activity in different service categories (installation and commissioning, routine maintenance, extensions, replacements, etc.).
- Provision of on‑site or remote technical support in the event of process control system or automation malfunctions.
- Enhancement and modernization of existing process control systems.
- Consulting with and advising customers on the best service solutions in accordance with standard processes, procedures and safety guidelines.
- Creating and maintaining strong relationships with customers, appreciating their needs and providing specialist assistance and solutions.
- Actively participating in automation projects from installation of the process control system to programming and commissioning at the customer site.
- Troubleshooting simple equipment failures and making recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future.
- Identifying opportunities to develop new service applications, equipment and methods.
Qualifications For The Role
- Degree in technical studies with focus on automation technology or electrical engineering, or a technician qualification.
- Professional experience (2+ years) in the field of automation technology.
- Sound knowledge of and hands‑on experience in servicing, maintaining, commissioning, and repairing industry‑specific products.
- Good IT knowledge with Windows operating systems, PC hardware, network technology and cybersecurity.
- Ability to travel to domestic sites, a valid driving licence, and willingness to provide on‑call service.
- Collaborative and solution‑oriented work style and strong communication skills.
- Fluency in German and good written and spoken English.
