Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Take full ownership of designing and executing the firm's new fraud prevention and detection strategy, developing and implementing SOPs, systems, and controls to enhance detection, investigation, and reporting.
  • Operational Transformation & Risk Execution: Conduct a review of current fraud prevention and detection capabilities, identify key risks and opportunities, and develop a robust strategy to reduce fraud.
  • Technology & AI Integration: Champion the use of modern technology to future‑prove our fraud defences, leveraging data to develop effective strategies and enhance controls.
  • Team Development & Vision: Act as a decisive leader for the fraud team, mentoring and upskilling existing members while setting a vision for growth.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Advisory: Serve as the primary fraud risk subject‑matter expert, embedding fraud prevention into new products and providing strategic advice on emerging trends and regulatory changes.

Qualifications

  • Proven, extensive experience in a senior fraud strategy role within payments, crypto, or banking sectors.
  • Track record of successfully transforming a fraud function from manual, inefficient processes to a streamlined, automated framework.
  • Deep, practical expertise in fraud typologies, especially APP scams, social engineering, investment scams, etc.
  • Hands‑on leadership, comfortable defining vision, making tough decisions, and executing a strategic roadmap in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of and passion for leveraging AI and automation to create scalable fraud controls.
  • Experience building, mentoring, and leading high‑performing operational teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Analytical and synthesising complex information, distilling it into actionable advice using a risk‑based approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive, autonomous, and able to prioritise and manage own workload effectively.
  • Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
