Freelance Medical Writer

Preferred expertise in Gastroenterology | Travel primarily to Spain or Sweden required

We are looking for a freelance Medical Writer to support the development of professional medical and scientific meeting reports , as well as other high-quality scientific communication materials. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in medical writing , with preferred expertise in gastroenterology , and the flexibility to travel primarily to Spain or Sweden to cover congresses, meetings, and other live scientific events when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare professional medical and scientific meeting reports based on congresses, advisory boards, internal meetings, and other scientific events
• Attend selected meetings and congresses onsite to capture key discussions, presentations, and insights accurately
• Develop clear, accurate, and well-structured scientific content for reports, summaries, slide decks, and related materials
• Translate complex scientific data and meeting outcomes into concise, audience-appropriate documents while maintaining medical accuracy
• Collaborate with internal teams, medical experts, and clients to ensure reports reflect key objectives and scientific messaging
• Conduct literature searches and support reference validation where needed
• Ensure all materials are delivered in line with project briefs, timelines, and compliance requirements

Preferred profile

• Proven experience as a Medical Writer , ideally in a freelance capacity
• Strong experience in developing medical and scientific meeting reports
• Preferred therapeutic area experience in gastroenterology
• Excellent scientific writing skills in English, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and produce polished, professional reports under time-sensitive conditions
• Willingness and ability to travel primarily to Spain or Sweden to attend and cover scientific meetings and congresses
• Experience in congress reporting or live event coverage is highly preferred

Requirements

• Background in life sciences, pharmacy, medicine, or a related scientific field
• Previous experience in medical communications, scientific writing, or healthcare-related content development
• Strong organizational, communication, and reporting skills
• Availability on a freelance/project basis

Nice to have

• Experience working with pharmaceutical or healthcare clients
• Familiarity with compliance-driven medical communications
• Experience supporting international or regional scientific events
