Freelance Transfer Pricing Documentation Specialis

A Berlin-based company is seeking a freelance Transfer Pricing Documentation Specialist to support a strategic compliance initiative focused on German transfer pricing requirements. The role is centered around strengthening and updating Verrechnungspreisdokumentation from 2021 onwards, with particular emphasis on intercompany transactions within a broader European group structure.

This assignment plays a key role in ensuring that all transfer pricing documentation is fully aligned with German regulatory expectations and is prepared for potential review by tax authorities and external auditors. The consultant will work closely with finance and tax stakeholders to understand existing intercompany setups, gather relevant information, and translate this into formal, audit-ready documentation.

The engagement is ideal for an experienced specialist who can operate independently, quickly understand complex group structures, and deliver high-quality compliance documentation in a structured and professional manner. The role is hybrid, with an expectation to be onsite in Berlin approximately once per week for collaboration and stakeholder alignment.

Your Responsibilities

• Prepare and update transfer pricing documentation (Verrechnungspreisdokumentation) for financial years from 2021 onwards
• Analyse intercompany transactions and structures within a European group setup
• Conduct stakeholder interviews to gather relevant financial and operational information
• Ensure documentation complies with German tax authority requirements and audit standards
• Translate complex intercompany arrangements into clear, structured, and defensible documentation
• Collaborate with finance, tax, and accounting teams to validate data accuracy
• Review existing ERP/accounting data to support transfer pricing documentation requirements
• Support audit readiness by ensuring documentation is complete, consistent, and well-structured
• Work independently while aligning with internal stakeholders on key findings and outputs

Desired Qualifications

• Strong experience in German tax compliance and transfer pricing documentation
• Background in HGB accounting and German financial reporting standards
• Experience working with intercompany structures in multinational organisations
• Good understanding of ERP and accounting processes (e.g. SAP or similar systems)
• Ability to independently gather information and translate it into formal documentation
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and regulatory accuracy
• Excellent communication skills, including stakeholder interviewing and documentation writing
• Experience working in a freelance or consulting capacity is highly desirable
