The opportunity

We are looking for a Senior to join our Life Insurance Managed Services Actuarial Practice delivering solutions to leading clients in the Insurance sector. You will work closely with staff/assistants, consultants/seniors, managers, senior managers or client partners in EY’s global network of insurance sector and consulting professionals.

You can expect to work with senior managers/directors to support large-scale engagements and deliver high-quality client solutions. You will develop and maintain long-term relationships and networks, and build and energize a high-performing team.

Key requirements

As a Senior within the Actuarial Managed Services team, your role involves developing and implementing solutions both within the Insurance service line and in collaboration with other service lines.

• Good understanding of US product lines and regulatory standards; hands-on implementation experience (desirable)
• Experience of handling a small to moderate sized team will be an advantage
• Ability to review work done by junior members, ensuring quality of work product during time-sensitive deadlines
• Ability to maneuver around existing modeling setup to incorporate asset or liability cashflows
• Understanding of AoC concept and AoC steps (unwinding, roll forward, assumption changes, experience variances)
• Strong Excel skills, capable of running and modifying macros used to transform actuarial cashflows
• Hands-on experience in actuarial valuation software such as Prophet / Axis / MG Alpha. Advanced level experience in one of these is valuable
• Strong experience on Excel is a must; experience on VBA would be good
• Good experience of preparing PPT decks
• In-depth understanding of insurance products and regulations of one or more geographies

To qualify for the role, you must have

• 3–6 years of experience in valuation / reporting / pricing or modelling function in a life actuarial team of an insurance / consulting / outsourcing company
• Good analytical skills
• Ability to conduct investigations in models / reporting processes and independently solve problems
• Willingness to learn and apply learning actively in project work
• Proficiency in MS-Office Suite; Power BI, VBA, SAS, R, Python, SQL, SPSS, etc., is a plus

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Good actuarial exam progress
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing, industry studies and stakeholder presentations
• The ability to build relationships with colleagues across the business and promote collaboration
• Overseas exposure (especially Australia/UK/US/Europe market experience)
