Position: Geography Expert
Type: Contract
Compensation: $65–$73/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 20 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

• Author technical tasks to evaluate AI model performance in geography and earth sciences .
• Review and annotate problem sets using maps, satellite imagery, GIS output , and topographic figures.
• Produce original problem sets and write reference solutions with structured quality checks.
• Collaborate with AI research teams to improve model outputs and training data quality.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines and enhance AI model performance .

Qualifications

Must-Have

• PhD in Geography , Earth Sciences , or GIS ; or MS with 3+ years applied research, cartography, or GIS experience; or BA/BS with 5+ years applied GIS , cartography, or field experience.
• Working fluency in at least two of: physical geography, human geography, GIS , remote sensing, cartography.
• Comfortable with maps, satellite imagery, GIS output , and topographic figures.
• Clear technical writing; articulate reasoning step-by-step in written form.
