Job Summary
The Global Training Leader will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to address the learning needs of our production organization, and for developing training solutions that meet the organization’s short‑term and long‑term objectives. This role will manage all training related needs for our production associates and key supporting areas. The leader will guide a global team of trainers, manage initiatives, timelines, approvals, and projects, and serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop training team, supervisors, and facilitators globally, aligned with business needs for scaling the organization.
- Support hiring of new production employees by discussing timing and headcount needs with production managers and supervisors.
- Coordinate discussions between hiring needs, contracting companies and talent acquisition teams.
- Define and track training effectiveness using KPIs, feedback and performance metrics; present reports to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with different functions to coordinate production training and hiring improvement initiatives.
- Develop and manage the training department budget, optimizing the use of trainers, training center and HQ benches/equipment/parts.
- Lead projects in the training area that support business with all production scaling activities.
- Manage training budgets, resources and vendor relationships.
- Partner with other functions to develop and execute supervisor training programs for production/logistics/quality inspection leaders.
- Benchmark solutions outside the company that can enhance training processes and technologies.
- Partner with manufacturing engineering and production teams to develop training solutions that directly support yield improvement and scrap reduction.
- Integrate Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives into team goals and decision‑making.
Experience and Education
- BS in engineering, business, talent development; MBA or MS are desired.
- 10 years of related work experience in manufacturing or training, with at least 5 years of leadership experience.
- Medical device industry experience required.

- Ability to articulate and help the team translate SOPs and technical processes into well‑defined and effective training.
- Ability to provide positive and constructive feedback, coach/mentor, and develop individuals.
- Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and effectively.
- Model the Abiomed/J&J values and culture as an ambassador internally and externally.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; working knowledge of SAP desired.
- Ability to exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to achieve results.
Compensation and Benefits
- Anticipated base pay range: $122,000 - $212,750.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance‑based compensation programs. This position is eligible for an annual performance bonus and participation in the long‑term incentive program. Employees may participate in medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Retirement plan (401k) and other benefits are available. Time‑off benefits include up to 120 hours of vacation per year, up to 40 hours of sick time per year (56 hours in Washington state), up to 13 days of holiday pay, and up to 40 hours of work‑personal‑family time.
