Responsibilities

In your new position, you are responsible for leading the German tax compliance function for direct and indirect taxes, including the timely and accurate preparation, review, and submission of all German tax filings and related reporting. You oversee tax payments, tax accounts, reconciliations and tax reporting interfaces into statutory and management reporting while owning and monitoring the German tax compliance calendar and all filing deadlines. Together with your colleagues and external partners, you steer and review work performed by internal teams, shared service centers and external advisors, collaborating closely with Finance, Accounting, Controlling, Legal and business stakeholders.

  • Establish and maintain an effective German tax control framework, manage tax audits as well as authority requests and handle tax controversy matters with clear documentation and audit trails.
  • Translate regulatory changes into operational requirements, drive automation and standardization initiatives, support transactions and reorganizations and communicate compliance status, risks and mitigation actions transparently to management.

Qualifications

  • Completed university degree in tax, accounting, law, business administration or a comparable field, ideally combined with qualification as a Steuerberater.
  • Several years of professional experience in German direct and indirect tax, preferably in a multinational corporate environment or a leading advisory firm.
  • Strong technical expertise in German corporate income tax, trade tax, withholding tax, VAT and tax compliance processes including audits and authority interactions.
  • Very good German and English language skills, along with solid experience working with ERP systems and tax technology solutions.
  • A hands‑on, structured and detail‑oriented working style combined with strong communication skills, stakeholder management capabilities and a pragmatic, solution‑driven mindset.
