Guidance, Navigation, & Control Engineer

Overview

In this role you will own end-to-end development of UAS guidance, navigation and control systems to elevate platform performance. You’ll design and validate state estimation and controllers, collaborate with field and supporting disciplines, and contribute to tests and deployment. The work supports Helsing’s mission to apply responsible AI in defense and shapes cutting-edge robotic perception and decision-making. You’ll join a mission-driven team pushing advanced autonomy in a high-stakes domain.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Develop bespoke UAS controllers from concept to integration and iteration
  • Design, test and implement state estimator algorithms for contested environments
  • Simulate navigation and guidance performance to define sensor stacks
  • Analyze real sensor data to calibrate sensors and validate performance
  • Support test specification and execution for navigation/ guidance evaluation
  • Collaborate with Flight Mechanics, Aerodynamics, Embedded hardware/software, and Testing teams
  • Contribute to and analyze flight tests
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in navigation, guidance or state estimation development
  • Strong Matlab/Simulink skills
  • Solid background in state estimation theory, aerodynamics, stability and control, and systems modelling
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting findings internally and externally
  • Solid software engineering skills in Matlab and/or Python, Rust, Java, or modern C++
  • Active interest in current research and reimplementation/extending state-of-the-art navigation/guidance algorithms
