Head of Credit (f/m/d) DACH

Responsible for overall management of the Credit department in the DACH region, including risk management, credit underwriting and alignment with the company’s credit strategy and regional objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the DACH Credit Department (three teams), providing professional and disciplinary leadership, coaching and development.
  • Review and approve credit applications and reviews within authority, from standardized cases to complex, large‑scale transactions.
  • Balance commercial opportunities with the company’s risk appetite by assessing business risks, financed assets, contractual structures and defining risk mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration with senior decision‑makers, risk committees, sales leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Implement policies, guidelines and operational workflows, ensuring effective systems, models, processes, controls and training within Credit.
  • Monitor portfolio risk performance in DACH, prepare analyses and reports, and proactively complete risk assessments.
  • Propose and discuss risk appetite, execute the business strategy within underwriting criteria, and act as a key link between Sales and Credit for structuring larger deals.

Qualifications

  • Academic background in finance, economics, business administration or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in underwriting and analysing term credit transactions in banking or asset finance, including complex and structured deals.
  • Several years in asset finance and/or bank credit operations with proven collaboration with Sales on deal structuring and risk mitigation.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a comparable role with professional and disciplinary responsibility for teams.
  • Strong business administration and industry knowledge; asset expertise in relevant sectors is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to set direction, motivate and develop teams.
  • Professional level English language skills.
  • Structured, organized approach with ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Clear and concise communication, able to present and defend positions at senior level.
  • Cooperative, approachable and team‑oriented style with strong stakeholder management.
  • Ability to work independently and in close partnership with colleagues, and to engage confidently with customers.
