Head of Finance (f/m/d) - Renewable Energy Investment Platform

Build a finance function from the first bank account to the boardroom.

Options Group is supporting a pan-European renewable energy investment and project development company to appoint a Head of Finance in Frankfurt. The company develops, finances, builds and operates solar PV, battery storage, onshore wind and data centre projects across several European markets, and belongs to an established international group with more than sixty years of history.

The finance function in Frankfurt is being set up now. Working directly with the CEO, the Head of Finance defines the reporting, compliance and governance framework of the group to the standard expected of a listed company under German and EU regulation, and builds the team that runs it.

The first phase is deliberately operational: setting up entities and banking, establishing payment and cash management processes, working with counterparties and running the first consolidated closings personally. As the platform grows, the role moves towards financial strategy, planning, debt and equity financing and capital markets, with a seat on the Investment Committee and a clear perspective towards the CFO position.

Key responsibilities

1. Design and run the group reporting cycle across international project companies, including IFRS accounting and consolidation
2. Own the consolidated close and the external audit; deliver reporting in line with BaFin requirements
3. Ensure compliance with the Market Abuse Regulation and support Investor Relations on financial disclosures
4. Establish banking, payment processes, liquidity and cash management for new entities
5. Support business cases and negotiations with counterparties, including utilities
6. Recruit and lead the finance team; progressively take ownership of planning, financial modelling and financings as a member of the Investment Committee and counterpart to boards, investors and analysts

Requirements

1. Track record as head of finance, head of accounting or controlling, or finance director, ideally at a publicly listed company
2. Chartered or certified accountant or equivalent, hands-on in HGB and IFRS, with consolidated closings for external audit
3. Working knowledge of BaFin requirements, MAR and the German Corporate Governance Code
4. Experience building or scaling a finance function; capital raising, financial modelling, renewable energy or project finance exposure is a plus
5. Fluent German and professional English
6. Entrepreneurial, hands-on, and ambitious to grow into a broader strategic leadership role
