Head of Software Engineering (m/f/d)

As Head of Software Engineering, you will define and deliver the software strategy for document processing machines and lead cross-disciplinary teams. You’ll own architecture and full product lifecycle, driving modernization through CI/CD, DevOps, IoT, and Industry 4.0 integration. You collaborate with hardware, product, and operations to align technical decisions with business needs and ensure reliable, secure production systems. • Define and execute the software strategy and roadmap for document processing products
• Lead and grow cross-disciplinary teams (embedded, backend, frontend, QA, automation); hire, mentor and set performance goals
• Own software architecture and lifecycle across design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance and decommissioning
• Ensure reliability, performance and security through observability and SRE practices
• Collaborate with hardware, product and operations to align technical decisions with business needs
• Drive automation and digitalization: IoT connectivity, remote diagnostics, Industry 4.0 features
• Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines and DevOps culture
• Measure and improve system performance via profiling and capacity planning

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
• Proven software development experience in industrial or embedded environments
• Leadership track record managing software teams and delivering complex projects on schedule
• Technical breadth in embedded systems, real-time control software, industrial interfaces and networking
• Familiarity with automation or document processing systems is a strong advantage
• Experience with code review processes, coding standards and technical governance
• Familiarity with security best practices (OWASP, secure coding)
• Knowledge of standards and compliance relevant to industrial software and product safety
