Job requirements

Lead people and build strong teams

  • Lead, coach and mentor Engineering Managers, Principal Engineers and other technology leaders.
  • Coordinate distributed, international and multicultural technology teams, including teams working with external partners.
  • Build resilient, inclusive and high‑performing teams by fostering trust, psychological safety, collaboration and shared ownership.
  • Provide a clear vision and direction through authentic leadership, inspire commitment beyond formal reporting lines and enable teams to deliver meaningful business impact reliably, especially in times of change and uncertainty.

Shape strategy and lead transformation

  • Shape the technology strategy for your area and translate company priorities into clear objectives, roadmaps and execution plans.
  • Support the technology transition and post‑closing integration of one or more digital automotive business areas, including Leasing and/or C2B.
  • Establish a clear target operating model, identify dependencies and risks, and coordinate technology workstreams across Product, Technology and business functions.
  • Support TSA exit planning and ensure that systems, teams, processes and ownership are prepared for a sustainable long‑term setup.
  • Enable effective collaboration with external partners and internal teams to deliver transition and integration goals.

Partner with the business and ensure reliable delivery

  • Act as a trusted technology partner and sparring partner for Product Owners, Business Owners, and other members of the Product & Tech Leadership Team.
  • Ensure clear accountability for technology products, platforms and services, including appropriate attention to architecture, operations, security, privacy and compliance.
  • Matrix‑manage multidisciplinary teams, remove blockers and provide effective support in critical situations.
  • Support prioritisation and capacity planning, balancing integration needs, strategic initiatives and business‑as‑usual delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement in agile development, product discovery, engineering practices and continuous delivery.
  • Foster a culture of learning, knowledge sharing, inclusion, psychological safety and data‑driven continuous improvement.

Job responsibilities

Technology and transformation expertise

  • Several years of experience leading technology teams and developing people, ideally across multiple teams or organisational units.
  • Proven experience in agile delivery, technology management, organisational change or complex transformation programmes.
  • Solid understanding of software design, implementation and operation of distributed services, platforms and APIs.
  • Experience with technology integration, transitions, operating‑model design or comparable large‑scale change initiatives.
  • Strong product and business acumen, with the ability to translate strategic goals into pragmatic technology decisions.
  • Passion for building effective teams, improving ways of working and enabling reliable delivery.
  • High standards for quality, security and operational excellence, balanced with pragmatism and a bias for action.

Leadership and collaboration

  • Demonstrated ability to inspire commitment and foster high performance through authentic and inclusive leadership, especially in situations where influence matters more than formal authority.
  • Ability to provide direction, make pragmatic decisions and maintain focus in complex, ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (German is a strong plus), combined with strong negotiation, influencing, stakeholder management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to connect people around a shared purpose, create psychological safety and foster an environment in which teams feel empowered to take ownership and perform at their best.

AI fluency

  • You can assess and enable the responsible use of AI across technology teams—for example, in software development, testing, documentation, operations and decision support—while maintaining appropriate standards for quality, security, confidentiality, privacy, intellectual property and human oversight.
  • You understand the opportunities and limitations of AI and can help teams adopt it pragmatically to improve productivity, learning and delivery outcomes.

What success looks like in this role

  • Technology leaders and teams have a clear direction, understand how their work contributes to the wider business and are empowered to deliver.
  • People choose to engage, contribute and follow the direction because they trust the leadership, understand the purpose and feel part of one winning team.
  • Distributed and partner‑based teams collaborate effectively across organisational, cultural and geographical boundaries.
  • The transition and integration work progresses with clear ownership, transparent dependencies and well‑managed risks.
  • Teams deliver reliably while continuing to improve their engineering practices, ways of working and business impact.
