Head of Transportation Management (m/f/d)

We are seeking an experienced professional for an internationally active industrial company who can reliably manage national and international transportation flows and actively further develop the existing transportation management system.

Your Responsibilities

• Managing and coordinating all incoming and outgoing shipments with a focus on on-time delivery, quality, and service
• Ensuring a smooth transport process while adhering to legal, customs, and freight forwarding requirements
• Coordinating and managing external freight forwarders, carriers, and other logistics partners
• Close coordination with internal departments such as Supply Chain Management and Sales
• Independently handling time-sensitive delivery situations and initiating appropriate immediate measures
• Solution-oriented communication and de-escalation in the event of deviations or transportation problems
• Helping to shape and further develop existing transportation and logistics structures
• Analysis of logistics processes and identification of opportunities for optimization
• Planning and implementing projects for the digitization and automation of transportation processes
• Supporting the further development of an efficient and cost-effective logistics network

What you should bring

• A college degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a comparable qualification
• Alternatively, vocational training in business or logistics with relevant continuing education, such as a certification as a logistics specialist
• Several years of professional experience in transportation logistics as well as in operational and strategic logistics
• Strong knowledge of managing domestic and international shipments
• Experience with various modes of transport, such as road, rail, sea, and air freight
• Confident in dealing with freight forwarders and external logistics service providers
• Experience with transportation management, warehouse management, and ERP systems, ideally SAP
• Very good command of German and English
• Ability to handle situations confidently, even in the face of last-minute changes and critical delivery situations
• Interest in digital solutions and the continuous improvement of logistics processes
