HQP – QS 204 Photovoltaics Perovskite-Silicon Tandem Solar Cell Integration & Failure Analysis Expert / Scientist / Engineer (m/f/d)

We are a global leader in photovoltaic technology and a proud member of the Hanwha Group, a FORTUNE® Global 500 enterprise. Our Center for Innovation, Technology and Quality in Thalheim (near Leipzig/Halle/Berlin) is home to more than 200 experts driving advancements in solar cells and modules, engineered in Germany.

Your Role: Driving Integration and Deep-Dive Analysis

As a key member of our dynamic and international R&D team, you will play a crucial role in advancing our perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell technology by understanding and optimizing process interactions, material interfaces, and device performance.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and develop a deep understanding of interactions between process steps and functional layers, including perovskite-based absorber stacks, in tandem solar cells
  • Evaluate the impact of process variations on device performance, yield, and reliability
  • Identify and implement integrated optimization strategies across the full process chain

Failure Analysis & Root Cause Identification

  • Perform deep-dive failure analyses when efficiency, stability, or yield targets are not met
  • Combine and interpret process data, inline monitoring results, and imaging techniques such as PL/EL
  • Identify root causes and systematically build failure catalogues and knowledge databases

Data-Driven Problem Solving

  • Apply statistical methods to correlate process parameters with device performance
  • Design and execute experiments to validate hypotheses and eliminate failure modes
  • Collaborate closely with material, process, and production teams
  • Translate analytical insights into process and technology improvements
  • Support global production sites in implementing solutions
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of manufacturing robustness

Technology Leadership

  • Drive innovative approaches to enhance efficiency, yield, and long-term reliability
  • Actively contribute to technology roadmaps and future concepts

Your Profile: Expertise Meets Analytical Mindset

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist or engineer with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for understanding complex systems.

Your Qualifications

  • Degree in science or engineering (PhD preferred)
  • Experience in photovoltaics, semiconductor technology, or related high-tech industries
  • Strong understanding of process integration and/or failure analysis
  • Experience with data analysis, statistics, and ideally Design of Experiments (DoE)
  • Knowledge of imaging techniques such as PL/EL is a plus
  • Experience with perovskite solar cells or perovskite-silicon tandem technologies is highly desirable (not mandatory)
  • Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented working style
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings clearly
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills in an international environment
  • Very good written and spoken English (German is a plus)
