HV Engineer / Grid Connection Consultant (m/f/d)

Role Overview

We are a medium-sized family business with 500 employees across 7 locations in Germany and 2 abroad. We provide engineering and consulting services worldwide, focusing on the energy transition and environmental protection. This position is based in the Electrical Engineering / Power Transmission & Distribution department, which consists of around 15 employees.

Responsibilities

• Lead on project grid connection scope, including liaison with relevant project stakeholders.
• Review PPA and plant technical limits.
• Provide technical engineering support at all stages of the project development cycle.
• Prepare, check, and approve technical reports.
• Prepare, review, and evaluate EPC and IPP tenders.
• Review project designs including FEED and detailed design levels.
• Manage work packages and complete projects as required.
• Provide support for proposal preparation.
• Liaise and communicate effectively with team, clients, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on electrical power engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience in high voltage and extra high voltage systems, such as substations (GIS/AIS), protection and metering, overhead lines, and underground cables.
• Benefit: Experience with grid connection of renewable energy plants, including knowledge of connection processes and permitting requirements, energy supply systems in large-scale industrial plants, state of the art power‑to‑gas, pumps, and compressors for gas, hydrogen, water, and oil, and large‑scale drives including variable‑speed systems.
• Fluent in English and German.
• Previous experience working in a consulting environment is advantageous.
• Ability to work flexibly, independently, and reliably in a team.
• Commitment to quality and ensuring excellence of deliverables, including project reports and proposals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including email correspondence, technical report writing, and presentations.
• Capacity to work in a fast‑paced environment, often managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Willingness to travel internationally for meetings and presentations.
