Duties
- Administer the Agency's Regional District JROTC program according to law, regulation, and policy.
- Procure JROTC equipment and supplies to supplement current equipment.
- Manage and identify budget requirements for the Agency's Regional District JROTC programs in accordance with law, regulation, and policy.
- Inform the Agency's Regional District Director on sponsoring Military Services JROTC Command directed policies and procedures.
- Ensure consistency of Agency local policies with those of the sponsoring Military Command JROTC Services.
- Coordinate JROTC activities for Region's JROTC Units on behalf of the Agency.
- Implement accountability for JROTC equipment supplied to Regional JROTC units.
- Monitor JROTC program assessments for Agency's Regional District JROTC units as directed by the Military Services Commands.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- Two-year trial period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, including a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks.
- May be required to sign a transportation agreement or a mobility agreement; available for worldwide placement and willing to rotate to any DoWEA location.
- Must satisfy the requirements of DoD Directive V1230 for employment in foreign areas.
- Individuals hired from the Continental United States (CONUS) and their family members (who are U.S. Citizens) are required to obtain official passports prior to departure to overseas locations.
Qualifications
- Only applicants who meet at least one of the following employment authority categories are eligible:
- Current Competitive Service Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA) Civilian Employee
- Current Excepted Service DoWEA Employee
- Current Excepted Service Department of War Employee
- Current Permanent Department of Defense Civilian Employee
- Current Public Employee
To qualify, applicants must meet education and experience requirements. Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer experience. Credit is received for qualifying experience. Transcripts may be required for education-based qualifications.
Minimum Academic Preparation
A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution is required. Minimum of 40 semester hours in general education and 18 semester hours in professional teacher education topics. (Speech Language Pathologists, Social Workers, School Nurses, School Psychologists, JROTC Instructors, and non-certified Training Instructors are excluded.)
A minimum of a Master’s degree is required.
Student Teaching or Internship
Completion of an approved teacher education program with student teaching or internship is required. Alternatively, one year of full-time employment as an educator may be credited.
Specialized Experience
Five years of experience as a JROTC instructor implementing the JROTC curriculum is required, including leadership development, citizenship, military history, physical fitness, classroom lessons, mentoring, event planning, and liaison activities.
Professional Licensure
Must be certified or certifiable for any DoDEA Instructor or JROTC teaching category. Upload a copy of most recent JROTC certification upon applying.
