What's the role?

As a working student in the highly innovative research project HFIN (Human Factors for Navigation) Phase 1, you will directly contribute to road safety by helping to optimize the driver's cognitive load.

• Assist in researching and analyzing driver cognitive load metrics and their impact on road safety.
• Conduct necessary literature review.
• Support data collection and analysis related to driver behavior.
• Create optimal algorithms as per HFIN use cases.
• Perform data mining and develop insights needed for HFIN.
• Participate in testing and validating the results.
• Visualize the results using the HERE Platform.
• Familiarize with the HERE platform and its application within the HFIN project.

Note: This is a 20‑hour‑per‑week working student contract for 6 months. We offer a hybrid working model, with 2 days per week onsite at our Schwalbach office required.

Who are you?

• You are currently studying Computer Science, Data Science, GIS, or a related field (BSc or MSc level).
• Programming skills in Python or Java, with an understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience in data mining, analysis, and visualization.
• Familiarity with GIS platforms and an understanding of cognitive load, driver distraction, and human‑in‑the‑loop system principles (nice‑to‑have).
• Strong written and verbal communication English skills to clearly report findings.
• Detail‑oriented mindset with strong analytical skills and interdisciplinary curiosity.
• Openness and motivation to learn and adopt new tools and technologies.
• Applicant must have student status and be enrolled in a German university in or around the Schwalbach/Frankfurt region.
