Your mission

Overview

War Child reaches many thousands of children and youth every year, and the strategic goal is to scale impact by implementing evidence-based methodologies with partners to support the mental health and well-being of children affected by conflict. The Care System includes a range of evidence-based methodologies that can be selected, tailored, and integrated with existing services to meet programme requirements and contexts.

Role

To make the adaptive Care System accessible to more children and communities, we aim to collaborate with key stakeholders to co-design simple and effective learning pathways and resources that support all steps in the implementation process. As Learning Designer Care System , you will provide learning and instructional design expertise, collaborate with the core EBM teams, and improve and build on existing learning paths while starting new blended learning paths and resources. You will develop learning paths that are scalable and aligned with guiding principles, and, where relevant, co-create or collaborate with replication partners and local implementing partners to ensure learning paths are contextualised and adopted or co-owned. You will also help create learning materials and resources to strengthen partners’ abilities to implement evidence-based methodologies, including coordination and quality assurance.

What you will do

Project ownership

• Take the lead in implementing learning design projects related to the Care System.
• Align with technical leads and ensure input from practitioners, partners, finance and other key stakeholders.

Inclusive design

• Design and facilitate co-creation workshops to explore relevant questions and the needs and learnings of key stakeholders and partners.
• Ensure partners’ needs are centered in all learning paths and learning resources, and reflected in the final products.

Learning Design and Development

• Provide instructional design, analysis and guidance for blended learning paths.
• Ensure collaborative and inclusive design processes.
• Plan, design and produce an e-learning course that is activity-based, learner-centered, interactive, with storyboard and, if relevant, animations, video, and/or illustrations.
• Produce or support the design of relevant accessible learning materials.
• Publish prototypes related to the learning paths, resources and platforms.

Adaptive learning

• Prepare and plan user testing once a prototype is published.
• Create an adaptive learning process to review learning trajectories, gather recommendations for adjustments, and assess and integrate.
• Ensure lessons from Communities of Practice and learning communities and implementers are gathered and used to enrich and improve learning paths and resources.

Your profile

Education

• Education in Instructional Design, Digital Arts, or equivalent, applying adult learning principles for global audiences.

Experience

• Experience designing scalable learning models.
• Experience with e-learning authoring tools such as Evolve is a must.
• A minimum of 5 years creating in-product microlearning with a portfolio of work.

Knowledge

• Experience with a variety of tools, e-learning authoring tools and learning platforms, such as Evolve, WordPress, Canva, video editing tools, badging platform, and learning management systems (such as Kaya , a Totara/Moodle-based system), and use of AI tools for learning design (including translation tools).

Skills

• Passion for co-creating adaptive learning materials.
• Strong facilitation skills to engage global, multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
• Ability to ask the right creative questions to spark new solutions.
• Ability to build on existing strengths, systems and content.
• Strong coordination skills.

Languages

• Strong written and spoken English skills.
• Arabic, French, Spanish would be an advantage.

Other Requirements

• Ability and willingness to travel to organize content sprints and field trainings.

• Location: We work with global teams with members based in different locations. War Child operates in Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, Colombia, DR Congo, Germany, Jordan, Lebanon, the occupied Palestinian territory, South Sudan, Sweden, Syria, Uganda, Ukraine (soon to be registered), and Yemen. We also have offices in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Preference is given to applicants who reside with valid working permits. War Child does not offer relocation.
