Role Introduction

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated International Tax Manager specializing in EU VAT (m/f/d) to join our dynamic team at the OTCOE EMEA (Overseas Tax Center of Excellence). As part of the OTCOE EMEA team, the Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing the VAT compliance, advisory and risk management of group entities in the region. This role requires a deep understanding of EU VAT tax regulations from both technical and practical perspectives and the ability to implement effective tax strategies to optimize the local entities’ tax positions.

What You’ll Do

• Responsible for promotion and implementation of the Group’s global / regional tax strategy and policy across EU countries, ensuring alignment with local statutory requirements.
• Stay current on regional and local tax legislation developments, assess potential impact on the business and communicate with internal stakeholders, and conduct regular tax training to the stakeholders.
• Lead / participate in local tax health check projects or tax audits initiated by the tax authorities, supported by external tax advisors as appropriate.
• Collaborate closely with finance, legal, and business teams to ensure tax-compliant and efficient structuring of transactions / operations and provide ad-hoc practical tax solutions.
• Monitor VAT compliance status of local entities across the EU; support review of VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, Intrastat filings, and other statutory submissions prepared by local entities; drive continuous improvement of the VAT compliance process.
• Assist in the implementation of the Group’s global tax digitalization initiatives (e.g., e-invoicing, SAF-T, real-time reporting) and coordinate rollout with local entities.

What You’ll Bring

• Degree in Tax Law, Accounting, or Finance; a Master’s degree or professional qualification (e.g., Tax Advisor, CPA, CTA) is a plus
• At least 5 years of professional experience in EU VAT practice, preferably in an international setting
• Experience with VAT automation tools and tax digitalization projects (e.g., e-invoicing platforms, SAF-T reporting)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Outstanding communication and teamwork abilities, especially with the ability to communicate tax technical issues with non-tax professionals
• Independent and team-oriented working style
• Proficient in tax software and MS Office
• Multilingual skills (English required; additional EU language is a plus)
• Flexible working hours and options for remote work
