The Consumer Products & Services team is actively looking for an Investment Banking Vice President that will support the team in either our London or Frankfurt office. We serve clients across many subsectors including consumer products, consumer services, consumer technology, e‑commerce, food, beverage, agriculture, health & wellness, beauty, personal care, pet, automotive aftermarket, multisite retail, and restaurants.

Responsibilities

• Assist in targeting and closing new deal opportunities.
• Participate in selling and pitching William Blair’s services to clients and prospects, leveraging insights into macro trends and clients’ strategic direction to win business.
• Drive day‑to‑day activities for presentation development and suggest methods for positioning William Blair’s advantages versus competitors.
• Build and maintain relationships with client senior executives, consistently exceeding client expectations and serving as the day‑to‑day client contact for queries and deal matters.
• Provide direction on financial and valuation analysis for debt and equity and serve as a sounding board for innovative approaches.
• Lead extensive financial and valuation analyses for complex high‑impact deals.
• Leverage product, industry, and finance/accounting expertise to develop key themes for research and analytic deliverables.
• Suggest innovative approaches for due diligence, research and analysis and proactively resolve potential deal issues.
• Review all associate and analyst work for consistency, accuracy and formatting, taking responsibility for client materials and reports.
• Offer creative solutions to issues that arise in execution and origination.
• Provide thought leadership to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
• Act as lead trainer for junior team members, providing constructive feedback and motivation.
• Participate in recruiting and training activities.
• Ensure all activities comply with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Additional responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• MBA strongly preferred.
• Prior investment banking experience required; 3+ years at Associate level strongly preferred.
• Requirement to complete Level 3 exams with FCA and SIE/Series 79 within specified timelines (for UK and EU only).
• Detail‑oriented with deep analytical abilities.
• Superior mathematical, writing, verbal and computer skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new tasks.
• Ability to manage senior banker expectations while juggling multiple concurrent projects.
• Effective leadership and coaching skills.
• Ability to lead transaction processes and pitch new business with moderate senior banker oversight.
• Strong desire to win.
• Sound judgment.
• Remains calm and focused under pressure.
• Expertise in accounting and finance.
• Exhibits creativity and originality in analysis and work product.
• Travel required: 20‑40 %.
• Role based in London or Frankfurt.
