Our client is a leading international investment platform with a strong presence across Europe and an ambitious growth strategy within the distressed debt and non-performing loan (NPL) market.

To further strengthen its investment activities in Eastern Europe, we are looking for an experienced investment executive who combines strategic thinking with strong transactional expertise. Reporting directly to Executive Management, this is a highly visible leadership position with responsibility for originating, executing and managing complex investment opportunities across multiple markets.

Job Description

• Lead the origination, evaluation and execution of secured and unsecured NPL investment opportunities across Eastern Europe.
• Drive complex investment transactions from sourcing through due diligence, structuring, negotiation and closing.
• Take ownership of portfolio performance after acquisition, working closely with local management teams to maximise returns and ensure successful execution of investment strategies.
• Develop and manage strategic co‑investment partnerships with institutional investors and financial partners.
• Lead negotiations with banks, financial institutions, investors, advisors and other stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
• Build and maintain a strong network within the financial services and distressed debt market to identify new investment opportunities.
• Prepare investment recommendations and provide strategic insights to senior executive leadership regarding portfolio performance, capital allocation and market developments.

Successful Applicant

• Several years of experience within distressed debt investing, non-performing loans (NPL), special situations, real estate finance, investment banking, private equity or a comparable investment environment.
• Demonstrated success in leading complex investment transactions and managing investment portfolios independently.
• Strong understanding of secured and unsecured loan portfolios, distressed assets, restructuring situations and investment valuation.
• Experience working across Eastern European markets with a solid understanding of regional legal, commercial and financial environments.
• Proven negotiation skills gained through large and complex cross-border transactions.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and coordinate cross-functional, international teams within a matrix organisation.
• Entrepreneurial mindset combined with strong commercial judgement, analytical capabilities and a hands‑on approach.
• University degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Law or a related discipline; an MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is considered an advantage.
• Fluent English is essential. Additional German or Eastern European language skills are beneficial.
