Junior Digital Modeler – Advanced Design

Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Junior Digital Modeler to join our Advanced Design team in Munich. In this role, you will act as the critical bridge between creative sketches and engineering reality. You will be responsible for building high-quality preliminary Class-A surfaces (CAS). Beyond technical proficiency, you must possess a keen design sensitivity to accurately capture designers' intent, coordinate external digital vendors, and ensure the highest fidelity in translating visionary concepts into digital reality.

Key Responsibilities

CAS Modeling & Surfacing:

• Translate hand sketches, renderings, and clay scan data into high-quality 3D digital models (CAS) using Blender and Alias .
• Participate in the full iteration cycle from early concept to full-scale clay model support, ensuring rapid response to design changes and precise control over proportions and stance.
• Serve as the primary liaison for external digital modeling vendors (potentially across different time zones). Manage briefing processes, review deliverables for quality assurance, and ensure timely milestone deliveries.
• Assist in digital asset management and archiving; track project progress and elevate potential risks proactively.

Design Support:

• Prepare models for visualization and rendering; utilize 3D data to evaluate proportions, posture, and feature lines.
• Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback on model feasibility to aid design decision-making.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Transportation Design, Automotive Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in Blender: Expert-level skills in Blender are mandatory, with the ability to construct complex surfacing and forms.
• Knowledge of Alias: Foundational understanding and operational experience with Autodesk Alias; awareness of its application in the automotive pipeline.
• Design Sensitivity: Strong aesthetic judgment with a sharp eye for proportion, volume, lighting, and detailing.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the end-to-end automotive design development process, particularly within the Advanced Design phase.
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent logical thinking and spatial visualization abilities.
• Language: Fluency in English (business working language) is required. Fluency in Chinese is a significant plus.
• Strong team player with effective cross-functional and cross-cultural communication skills.
• Experience: Open to recent graduates or candidates with 1-2 years of relevant experience. A Portfolio demonstrating your modeling process and final outputs is mandatory.
