Junior Flight Dynamics Modelling Engineer

Overview

In this role you will develop and validate end-to-end flight dynamics models to support rapid evaluation of AI-based and control capabilities. You’ll work in a compact team, integrating numerical methods, simulations, and test data to produce faithful representations of real-world behavior. You will collaborate across Control Systems, Aerodynamics, and Flight Testing to ensure model coherence and drive improvements through flight campaigns. The position offers exposure to real-time testing environments and a mission-driven focus on advancing flight dynamics modelling.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Develop end-to-end flight dynamics models for various aerial platforms, from architecture definition to validation via flight testing
  • Define, support, and execute test activities to validate and refine dynamic models against performance objectives
  • Collaborate with interfacing disciplines to ensure model consistency across domains
  • Participate in and analyse flight test campaigns to improve model fidelity
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • 1-3 years work experience
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for design, implementation, and validation of dynamic models
  • Solid foundation in aerodynamics, flight stability and control, and system modelling
  • Software engineering capabilities with Python, Rust, Java, or C++
  • Experience in control systems design, applied aerodynamics, and system identification
  • Experience deploying models to real-time test environments (HIL or similar)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent in English; German language indicated as contextual requirement
