Junior Project Engineer (m/f/d) Digital Manufacturing

In this role you drive digital transformation on the shopfloor, turning concepts into scalable digital solutions. You work closely with production, engineering, IT and business stakeholders to prototype, test, and roll out new technologies. You assess emerging tools and build business cases to justify investments, while leveraging AI-enabled approaches to speed up prototyping. You own defined work packages, ensuring clear execution and communication, and you help teams adopt changes. • Lead digital transformation projects on the shopfloor from concept through rollout
• Identify and translate manufacturing process improvements into scalable digital solutions
• Develop, test, validate, and implement prototypes with production, engineering, IT and business stakeholders
• Evaluate emerging technologies, contribute to pilots, and support business-case preparation
• Apply AI-supported development to accelerate prototyping and operationalize promising concepts
• Take ownership of defined work packages or pilot projects with structured execution and documentation
• Support change and adoption by communicating goals, progress, and results to stakeholders and end users

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• Initial experience in digitalization, automation, manufacturing IT, industrial engineering, or shopfloor projects
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes or industrial environments; hands-on experience is advantageous
• Strong technical affinity with practical coding (e.g., Python), APIs, IIoT, databases or similar
• Passion for digital technologies, innovation and solving real-world industrial challenges
• Proactive mindset with initiative to own tasks or projects
• Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders
• Fluent in English; German is a plus
