Kubernetes Platform Architect

As a vKS Application Engineer, you collaborate with enterprise customers to design, validate, and deploy VMware Kubernetes Service on VMware Cloud Foundation. You serve as a trusted advisor, leading workshops and Proofs of Concept to demonstrate value and drive modernization. You partner with sales to tailor proposals and build scalable, secure, and resilient Kubernetes solutions. This role blends technical depth with customer-facing impact, shaping adoption at scale within complex environments.

• Act as trusted advisor to design, validate, and deploy vKS on VCF
• Lead technical discovery sessions, workshops, and proofs-of-concept
• Collaborate with field account teams to align architecture with customer priorities
• Co-create customer proposals with sales addressing modernization goals and workload placement
• Provide prescriptive guidance on Kubernetes adoption, CI-CD, and DevOps for scalability, security, and DR
• Build reference architectures, deployment patterns, and technical assets
• Deliver technical presentations to audiences from architects to executives
• Stay current on industry trends and evolving enterprise requirements to position vKS
• Collaborate with product management and engineering to feedback into roadmap direction

• 8–10+ years in technology-related roles with enterprise IT architecture, application modernization, or cloud-native platforms
• Deep technical acumen in application engineering, consulting, or technical sales for enterprise IT, cloud, or application platforms
• Strong expertise in containers and leading Kubernetes distributions (EKS, AKS, RH OCP/OPP, Rancher) and VMware Cloud Foundation components (vSphere, vSAN, NSX)
• Proven track record of delivering technical solutions to enterprise customers and driving platform adoption
• Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills for technical and business audiences
• Strong collaboration with sales teams to advance customer opportunities
• Ability to identify challenges, design solutions, and articulate business value
• Enthusiastic self-starter with curiosity and adaptability in dynamic environments
• Thought leadership experience a plus
• Vertical/geo specialization in Telco, FSI, and LATAM is a plus
• Ability to travel up to 60%
