Lead Data Engineer (m/f/d) - Tieto Tech Consulting

Role Overview

As a Lead Data Engineer you shape how data is turned into impact, leading technical initiatives, designing scalable data platforms, and guiding teams in architectures.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of data engineering initiatives and act as a technical lead toward customers.
• Design, build, and evolve scalable data platforms aligned with business goals.
• Guide and support project teams, setting best practices and ensuring high-quality delivery.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into robust data solutions.
• Optimize and monitor data workflows for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Stay ahead of trends in data technologies and bring innovative ideas into projects.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in designing and implementing data solutions, platforms, and interfaces.
• Strong expertise in data modeling, including dimensional modeling and (de-)normalization.
• Hands‑on experience with modern data technologies, cloud platforms, big‑data tools, and data warehousing.
• Experience with cloud‑based data platforms such as Medallion architecture, Databricks, and/or Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience in guiding technical decisions, mentoring team members, and taking responsibility within projects.
• Excellent communication skills, confident with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Consulting mindset, fluency in German (C1) and English for stakeholder discussions.
• Passion for future developments and eagerness to learn about innovative IT solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid certifications in Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or MS Azure.
