Overview

As Lead Engineer, you own the mechanical, electrical, and systems architecture for ruggedised GCS hardware and high-fidelity HIL simulators in a defence context. You’ll drive modular hardware designs, oversee end-to-end build and verification, and coordinate across software, mechanical, and production teams to ensure robust, field-upgradable systems. Your work enables reliable operation in harsh environments and direct involvement in hardware-in-the-loop deployment. This role offers impact at scale, contributing to national security objectives while balancing ethical considerations. You will be part of a mission-driven team shaping advanced, cutting-edge defence technology.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Define modular, scalable hardware architecture for GCS units and simulation racks with MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 compliance
  • Lead hands-on prototyping, wiring, and assembly from CAD to workshop floor, including cabling and power systems
  • Oversee integration of subsystems (HPC, rugged displays, RF datalinks, pilot interfaces) for coherent electro-mechanical outcomes
  • Define and execute verification plans (thermal, vibration, ingress protection) with documented compliance evidence
  • Collaborate with fabrication partners and manufacturers to ensure design for manufacturing and on-time delivery
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Experience shipping ruggedised electronic enclosures or portable field equipment for defence/industrial domains with environmental standards compliance
  • Hands-on build-cycle proficiency: crimping, soldering, mechanical assembly, fault-finding with test equipment
  • Electrical system documentation: power budgets, grounding, wire-harness drawings, connector selection
  • Deep knowledge of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, IP ratings and EMI/shock/vibration isolation
  • Familiarity with UAV systems and simulation; HIL testing experience; Pixhawk/PX4, ROS
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks or Siemens NX) for enclosure and rack design
