Lead Engineer Mechanical Engineering – Naval Shipbuilding

On behalf of our client, one of Germany’s leading shipyards in the field of specialised and naval shipbuilding, we are seeking a Lead Engineer for Mechanical Engineering. In this key role, you will assume technical responsibility for complex mechanical engineering systems and coordinate interdisciplinary teams throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Tasks

• Assuming technical responsibility for mechanical engineering systems within challenging marine projects
• Providing technical leadership and coordination of a design team, as well as liaising with external engineering partners
• Ensuring that projects are delivered on time, cost-effectively and to a high standard
• Coordinating the integration of systems and components into the 3D design
• Collaborating with clients, suppliers, classification societies and internal departments
• Assessing technical changes and supporting the development of project solutions
• Overseeing the entire project lifecycle – from design through to manufacturing, commissioning and testing

Job requirements

• A successfully completed degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable technical discipline; alternatively, technical vocational training supplemented by relevant further training and many years’ professional experience
• Several years’ experience in the technical management or coordination of complex projects in naval shipbuilding
• Proficiency in 3D CAD systems; experience with Siemens Teamcenter is an advantage. Knowledge of CADMATIC is desirable but can be acquired during induction.
• Strong technical understanding

• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Good command of English / German B1
• A team-oriented personality who enjoys interdisciplinary collaboration
