Lead Mechanical Resident Engineer / Owner’s Representative – Data Centres

We are currently supporting a leading engineering consultancy on a data centre project in Frankfurt and are looking to appoint a Lead Mechanical Resident Engineer to oversee site delivery of the mechanical scope.

This is a key site-based role, acting on behalf of the client, ensuring that construction works are delivered in line with design intent, quality standards, and project requirements.

The Role

As Lead Mechanical Resident Engineer , you will take ownership of the mechanical scope on site, working closely with the contractor and wider project team to monitor progress, review technical documentation, and maintain quality throughout construction.

You’ll play a critical role in coordinating stakeholders and ensuring that all installations align with approved designs and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical works on site, including HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, pipework, and associated systems
• Review and approve technical submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs
• Act as the key interface between the client, contractor, and design teams
• Monitor site progress and report on risks, issues, and key milestones
• Carry out regular site inspections to ensure works align with approved documentation
• Identify and raise quality issues, snags, and non-conformances
• Contribute to weekly reporting and progress updates
• Attend and lead site meetings, including design and coordination reviews
• Ensure works are delivered in line with design intent and project standards

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 5+ years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field
• Background in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is required
• Strong site-based experience across construction phase delivery, design author supervision, and site quality monitoring
• Experience reviewing technical documentation, shop drawings, technical submittals, and managing RFIs
• Experience working alongside CSA, Electrical, and Controls teams on multidisciplinary projects
• Able to understand the engineering requirements of complex multidisciplinary projects
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Full rights to work in Germany or hold an EU passport
