Responsibilities

• Set the technical and architectural direction for the shared mobile platform.
• Design and build core parts of the platform while reviewing code and designs.
• Champion strong quality, automated testing, and testable-by-design code.
• Define and grow mobile practices, guidelines, and tooling that apply across all teams.
• Keep teams aligned so the platform evolves as a single coherent product.
• Own the build, release, and update pipeline and ensure the platform runs reliably in production.
• Explore and guide the adoption of AI tools that help build and operate mobile applications.

Success Metrics

• Within the first month, develop a clear understanding of the platform, its usage, and improvement opportunities.
• Within the first year, enable all teams to work fluidly on the platform with shared practices and tooling.
• Over time, achieve fast, consistent mobile development across the organisation, with the platform trusted by every team.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of software development with significant experience as a technical lead.
• Hands‑on expertise with React Native and TypeScript, demonstrated on public‑facing, high‑traffic apps.
• Deep knowledge of the full mobile app life cycle, from architecture and build to production release and operation.
• Strong commitment to automated testing and testable‑by‑design code.
• Excellent observability skills, including logging, metrics, crash analytics, and performance monitoring.
• Comfort with backend‑adjacent aspects such as APIs, data flow, and performance optimisation.
• Ability to lead without formal authority, guiding developers and tech leads across teams through clarity and credibility.
• Product mindset with an emphasis on customer experience and business impact.
• Strong collaboration, proactivity, and the ability to spot problems early and move them forward.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Native iOS or Android experience (Swift or Kotlin).
• Familiarity with the Expo/EAS ecosystem and over‑the‑air update workflows.
• Experience setting up mobile practices, standards, or platforms across multiple teams.
• Experience with loyalty, e‑commerce, or other transaction‑heavy consumer products.
• Experience in an airline or other regulated, high‑security domain.
