Lead Security Engineer

Lead Security Engineer: Managing and scaling the security engineering function for a high-growth cloud-first energy technology platform with an accent on application security, cloud infrastructure protection, and collaborative team leadership. Focus on building secure software development processes, driving architectural security improvements, and mentoring a team of engineers to ensure robust platform reliability and protection.

Location: Remote and Hybrid working allowed (London office available for hybrid setup).

What you will do

• Define strategic security objectives and lead the delivery of major security initiatives.
• Manage, mentor, and line‑manage a team of up to 6 Security Engineers.
• Collaborate across teams to integrate security practices into software development and platform services.
• Provide hands‑on technical guidance, including code reviews and architectural support.
• Establish team performance goals and foster a positive, inclusive, and communicative culture.
• Oversee incident management and ensure production systems remain secure and resilient.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a leadership role within Security Engineering.
• Strong background in security best practices and engineering standards.
• Experience mentoring and coaching teams to a high standard of quality.
• Proficiency in application security, cloud security, or SaaS/end‑user device security.
• Experience with incident management processes.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on asynchronous collaboration.

Nice to have

• Security or cloud‑provider specific certifications.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and CI/CD security practices.
• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK framework and vulnerability management automation.
• Experience using logging and monitoring tools for threat detection.
