Helsing

Lead Systems Engineer - Active RF Sensing

Stellenbeschreibung:

Overview

In this role you lead end-to-end system engineering and integration of an airborne AESA radar, from requirements to flight test and release. You translate mission needs into radar performance KPIs, develop CONOPS, and coordinate with airframe and mission systems. You manage suppliers, ensure LO constraints, and drive verification to deliver a mission-ready sensor. You work in a mission-driven, open culture at Helsing, balancing ethical considerations with cutting-edge tech.

Leistungen / Benefits
  • focus on outcomes over time-tracking
  • competitive compensation and VSOP options
  • relocation support
  • social and education allowances
  • regular company events and all-hands across Europe
  • equal opportunities employer
Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Own system engineering and integration of airborne radar from requirements through flight test and release
  • Translate mission needs into radar performance requirements (range, RCS, coverage, update rate, track quality, latency, environmental constraints)
  • Develop and maintain radar CONOPS and mode set (search, track, GMTI/MTI, SAR/ISAR)
  • Drive antenna/aperture integration including placement, FOV/boresight, radome impacts, thermal/structural constraints
  • Own RF performance and build end-to-end performance models
  • Ensure radar supports low observability constraints (RCS trade studies, leakage control, LPI)
  • Plan and execute verification & test (installed sensor focus)
  • Coordinate with software/avionics on data interfaces
  • Manage supplier technical control (specs, acceptance tests, change requests) and close issues with evidence
  • Define and maintain interfaces/ICDs to avionics and mission systems
  • Produce program artifacts (requirements, verification matrices, test plans, performance reports, flight readiness inputs)
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Hold a relevant degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • Experience delivering airborne radar (AESA and/or MFR) through integration, test, and release
  • Ability to translate operational scenarios into radar KPIs and verifiable requirements
  • Experience with radar modes and scheduling (search/track, MTI/GMTI, SAR/ISAR) and trade space between detection, tracking and resources
  • Understanding of RF and antenna/aperture integration (placement, boresight, radome, thermal/power)
  • LO/signature-aware mindset (radome/RCS trade-offs, leakage/spur control, LPI concepts)
  • Led verification & test (bench/HIL, chamber/anechoic, flight test support) and debugging RF to software parameters
  • Ability to own ICDs and supplier technical control (evidence review, changes, closure)
  • cross-functional collaboration
  • analytical thinking
  • ownership and initiative
  • AESA/MFR radar experience
  • RF performance modelling
  • CONOPS and mode scheduling
