Job Summary
Part of a dedicated on‑site technical team representing Collins Aerospace, actively supporting a strategically important customer. Working closely with the Field Service Manager (FSM), I am responsible for troubleshooting, resolving, and rectifying technical issues primarily across Collins Interiors commercial seating and other products within the Interiors portfolio. I am self‑motivated, often working independently and onsite with the customer, and serve as a customer advocate, maintaining clear communication between airline technical departments, the onsite field team, and other functional groups within Collins Interiors.
The role is based in Frankfurt supporting Lufthansa, with occasional travel to other customer or Collins locations as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Active member of the on‑site technical support team, providing broad technical support under the guidance of the resident Field Service Manager and collaborating with airline maintenance and technical teams to maintain Collins Aerospace products on or off aircraft.
- Certifying staff member with supervisory oversight for on‑wing modification embodiment, focusing on premium seating and extending to lighting, safety & cargo, and galleys.
- Support proactive customer and field team communication, sharing priorities and feedback with the resident FSM, onsite team, and product support as needed.
- Carry out on‑wing troubleshooting, especially commercial premium seating, capturing relevant technical data including failure symptoms, troubleshooting data, and use of diagnostic maintenance tooling.
- Aid the product support training team in facilitating and delivering customer training on Collins Interiors commercial seating.
- Work closely with Collins Product Support on Entry Into Service (EIS) support, including aircraft meet‑and‑greet, performance tracking, and regular communication as directed by supervisory team.
- Support investigation and follow‑up, including trial and testing of modifications across Collins Interiors products.
- Participate in periodic customer reliability meetings looking at in‑service quality and product performance metrics.
- Help FSM and product support team with analysis of airline data related to failure, operations, and overall product performance.
- Carry out all support and oversight in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable procedures, while maintaining professional relationships with customers.
- Facilitate on‑wing maintenance, training, planning, product performance reporting, and resolution of customer complaints and problems.
Job Complexity
Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of various factors. Exercise judgement within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining desired results.
Qualifications
Minimum six years of related experience and/or training in an aircraft technical environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Commercial airline premium seating experience is preferred. Part 145 certifying staff preferred, or possess the skills/experience to achieve certifying staff status.
Technical and Language Skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English and German.
- Analyze and interpret general professional documents (e.g., CMM, SB, SL), technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
Certifications and Licenses
- Airframe license preferred.
- Part 145 certification (or the ability to obtain it).
