Machine Learning Engineer II, Responsible AI

We are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer II, Responsible AI to join the Advanced Technologies Group at Pinterest. This role focuses on developing and deploying responsible AI solutions that address bias, fairness, and ethical considerations across large-scale ML systems, including generative AI. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement fairness interventions, evaluate ML models, and drive technical strategy in responsible AI. They will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to applied research initiatives.

The candidate should have 2+ years of experience in engineering teams building large-scale ML-driven user-facing products, with deep knowledge of advanced ML architectures such as transformers, 2-tower models, and LLMs. A strong background in measuring and deploying fairness solutions is essential. A Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or a related field is required. Experience with AI coding assistants, scalable real-time systems, and applied research is a plus. The position is based in the US, offers a competitive salary range of $138,905–$285,982 USD, and is part of a hybrid work model.
