Maintenance Planning Specialist

Lead Strategic Maintenance & Shutdown Planning Across a Growing Manufacturing Organization

Are you passionate about improving equipment reliability, planning complex maintenance projects, and driving operational excellence? We are seeking a Maintenance Planning Specialist to lead maintenance shutdown planning and long-term asset strategies across multiple manufacturing facilities.

In this role, you will partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Reliability, Procurement, and Finance teams to ensure planned maintenance and shutdown activities are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. You will play a key role in strengthening equipment reliability, supporting capital planning efforts, and driving continuous improvement across the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and standardize maintenance and shutdown planning processes across multiple facilities.
  • Create long-term maintenance strategies and outage plans that improve reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Manage outage budgets, sustaining capital forecasts, and project expenditures.
  • Oversee shutdown planning, scheduling, contractor coordination, and execution readiness.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes and operational continuity.
  • Track key performance metrics, conduct post-project reviews, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a technical resource and champion best practices in maintenance planning and asset management.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance, reliability, engineering, project management, or shutdown planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, budgeting, scheduling, contractor management, and project execution.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and collaborate across multiple departments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP or similar project management certification.
  • 10+ years of experience in maintenance, reliability, outage management, or capital project leadership.
  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities.
  • Background in heavy industrial or process manufacturing environments.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bluffton, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.48 - $57.69/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
