Manager – Financial Risk Team

Overview

As a Manager in the Financial Risk team at Zanders, you will be engaged in a diverse range of quantitative risk projects. The focus areas include risk strategy & appetite frameworks, model development, validation & implementation, stress testing, Model Risk Management, and BCBS 239/RDARR. You will work across credit, market, liquidity, ESG, and AI risk types.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in quantitative risk projects and deliver robust solutions.
• Develop, validate, and implement risk models.
• Conduct stress testing and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks.
• Lead 1–2 concurrent projects and oversee consultants on each project.
• Execute business development and support sales initiatives in the financial risk area.
• Coach and develop a team of up to four direct reports.
• Drive the business forward and make an impact from day one.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in econometrics, mathematics, physics, quantitative finance, statistics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in model development and/or validation, and broader risk governance in credit risk (e.g., IRB, credit portfolio modeling, IFRS 9, stress testing, ESG).
• Strong programming skills in R, Python, SQL, MATLAB, and SAS.
• Established network within the German banking industry.
• Regulatory knowledge and experience with TRIM missions, IMIs, OSIs, or similar.
• Fluency in German; business proficiency in English.
• Ambitious, entrepreneurial, and innovative mindset.
• Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Flexibility to travel as required.
