Manufacturing Engineering Manager

We're seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers responsible for improving manufacturing performance across innovative diagnostic product lines. This role combines people leadership with hands-on technical and operational influence, offering the opportunity to drive initiatives that improve quality, productivity, manufacturability, supplier performance, and scalability.
You'll work closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and R&D teams to implement strategic improvements while building a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence. What You'll Do
As Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you'll serve as a key leader responsible for improving manufacturing performance while developing a high-performing engineering team.
Lead and Develop a Strong Engineering Team
- Coach, mentor, and develop Manufacturing Engineers to support their technical and professional growth.
- Establish team priorities, allocate resources, and drive accountability across projects and daily operations.
- Build a culture focused on collaboration, problem-solving, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Drive Operational Excellence
- Lead initiatives that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and manufacturing scalability.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and structured problem-solving methodologies to eliminate waste and improve process performance.
- Utilize data, metrics, and performance indicators to prioritize opportunities and measure results.
Improve Manufacturing Performance
- Develop, optimize, and sustain robust manufacturing processes that support production growth and operational efficiency.
- Improve yield, reduce defects, increase throughput, and enhance product manufacturability.
- Lead process development, validation, and manufacturing transfer activities to ensure successful product launches and production readiness.
Partner Across the Organization
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and R&D teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges.
- Support supplier development initiatives and partner with vendors to improve performance, reliability, quality, and cost.
- Influence decision-making through technical expertise, business acumen, and effective communication.
Ensure Compliance and Quality
- Support manufacturing activities in compliance with FDA, ISO, IEC, and company quality system requirements.
- Ensure appropriate validation, change control, and risk management practices are followed.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions that support long-term operational success.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, process, industrial, mechanical, operations, or manufacturing engineering environments.
- 5+ years of engineering leadership or formal people management experience.
- Proven success leading engineering teams and driving cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience implementing project management methodologies to prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or Operational Excellence systems.
- Experience with process development, manufacturing process optimization, validation, and root cause analysis.
- Medical device, diagnostics, life sciences, or other regulated manufacturing experience.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting electromechanical devices, diagnostic instruments, or complex equipment manufacturing.
- Experience with supplier development, supplier quality, and supply chain performance improvement.
- Knowledge of FDA regulations, validation requirements, and regulated manufacturing practices.
- Experience with metal fabrication, PCB manufacturing, or complex equipment assembly.
- Familiarity with ERP, MES, PLM, or similar manufacturing systems.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent operational excellence training.
Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Saint Paul, MN.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $ - $ /yr.
