Job Purpose

The Manufacturing Engineer Staff Senior is a highly skilled process engineer with extensive experience. This global position involves supporting PHINIA sites during major projects and assisting component suppliers as needed. Responsibilities include new product industrialization, production launches, transfer projects, advanced process development, and improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). The role demands frequent travel and regular collaboration with PHINIA manufacturing sites, technical centers, and also with support functions, customers, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Defines and validates manufacturing process flows and is responsible for the Bill of Process for the segment under his responsibility.
  • Leads manufacturing feasibility analysis for new products, identifying and preventing potential risks.
  • Oversees the development of new manufacturing processes as needed, managing activities from technical specification to qualification.
  • Supports manufacturing sites new process quotations and supplier selection.
  • Supports industrialization projects, transfer projects, and production launches to achieve quality, volume, and cost objectives.
  • Participates in site capacity monitoring with the global footprint team and supervises equipment transfers based on changing capacity needs.
  • Supports the resolution of complex technical process issues that require in-depth knowledge and wide experience in product manufacturing processes.
  • Improves existing processes to meet PHINIA's quality, volume, and cost targets, including coordinating working groups for process monitoring and improvement.
  • Ensures projects meet milestones (DV, PV, PPAP, SOP) and collaborates with production sites and functions to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Participates in consolidating business cases by providing required investments and performance targets (cycle time, operating efficiency, headcounts, etc.).
  • Contributes to manufacturing footprint and insourcing studies by supplying input data or process-related assumptions to develop the PHINIA Manufacturing strategy.
  • Is responsible for Look Across for the process segment under his or her responsibility, collecting and documenting best practices from production sites.
  • Conducts manufacturing technological watch within his area of expertise.
  • Frequently travels to PHINIA sites and suppliers and quickly adapts to new working environments.
  • Reports to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.
