Mechanical Commissioning Manager (Data Centre)

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Mechanical Commissioning Manager to be a vital part of our team. As a Mechanical Commissioning Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the commissioning process of mechanical systems across our projects. Your role will involve ensuring the successful installation, testing, and performance validation of a wide range of mechanical systems, including HVAC systems, fire smoke damper systems, hydronic pipe works, evaporative cooling, waste heat recovery, and building automation systems (BAS). This role will initially be based in the UK and later be assigned to projects across Europe.

  • Commissioning Leadership: Lead planning and execution of the commissioning process for mechanical systems on assigned projects, collaborating with project teams to establish schedules and ensure timely completion.
  • System Testing and Calibration: Conduct comprehensive testing and calibration of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, BAS instrumentation, and other relevant equipment to validate their functionality and efficiency.
  • Issue Identification and Troubleshooting: Identify and address any issues, deviations, or deficiencies that arise during commissioning, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to implement solutions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of commissioning procedures, test results, and system performance, preparing comprehensive reports for clients.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients throughout the process, providing updates and addressing inquiries to ensure satisfaction with deliverables.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with project managers, mechanical engineers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of systems within the overall project.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Right to work in the European Economic Area essential.
  • Proven experience commissioning mechanical systems for industrial or commercial projects.
  • Sound knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and safety protocols.
  • Strong problem solving and keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Effective time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for on‑site commissioning activities.
  • Data centre experience advantageous but not essential.
