Munich Re Service GmbH - Head of Modelling & Analytics (m/f/d)*

As Head of Modelling & Analytics, you will lead a multidisciplinary team delivering robust climate risk models and analytics for Location Risk Intelligence. You translate strategy into a clear modelling roadmap and ensure high scientific quality aligned with product goals. You will collaborate across product, platform, and underwriting to accelerate end-to-end solutions. This role offers impact through shaping risk insights that inform underwriting, investments, and reporting at scale. You will be at the forefront of translating science into practice within a global SaaS platform.

• Lead an interdisciplinary team of physical risk modellers, risk analysts, and data scientists and cultivate a strong team culture
• Manage department budget, capacity, priorities, balancing science quality with product roadmaps
• Define the overall technical and methodological direction and translate strategy into an analytics roadmap
• Shape product concepts and guide modelling solutions from exploration to delivery and enhancement
• Foster cross-functional collaboration to accelerate delivery and ensure coherent end-to-end solutions
• Establish modelling standards, QA processes, scalability, and market relevance of analytics
• Explain complex methods and uncertainties to senior and technical audiences
• Advise executive management on strategic, technical, and business-critical matters including investment choices and model risk

• Advanced university degree in a quantitative discipline; PhD or equivalent preferred
• Substantial experience in physical risk modelling, geospatial risk analytics, or applied climate science with leadership
• Proven track record leading multidisciplinary technical teams
• Strategic and pragmatic leadership with decision-making under uncertainty
• Deep expertise in catastrophe/physical risk modelling and interaction of exposure, hazard, and vulnerability
• Strong understanding of risk modelling, data science, geospatial analytics; familiarity with AI, cloud workflows, and Python
• Experience translating scientific development into software-enabled products and with product lifecycle or agile processes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills; fluent English; German a plus
