Overview
Occupational Therapist – The Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) evaluates, plans, and collaborates on IEP goal development for students at assigned sites. As a related service provider, the OTR delivers interventions designed to enhance student participation and learning in diverse educational environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete screenings, conduct evaluations, develop measurable goals, plan and implement therapeutic interventions, and collect educationally relevant data.
- Communicate evaluation results and reports to educational staff, parents, students, and other professionals or agencies.
- Document all therapy services, including daily contact notes, progress summaries, evaluations, student IEPs, trainings, and Medicaid billing as required.
- Maintain and submit time records for billing purposes for travel, direct/indirect services, and approved projects.
- Collaborate, consult, teach, and monitor professionals and paraprofessionals involved in implementing occupational therapy interventions or strategies.
- Provide consultation to schools and districts regarding student, staff, and system needs.
- Attend meetings such as school team, PPT meetings, OT-PT staff meetings, and in‑services as required.
- Participate in and facilitate in‑service education, training, and professional development for related service staff and school personnel.
- Maintain routine inspection of therapy equipment, order supplies, and maintain inventory. Discontinue use of damaged products and seek repair or replacement.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
When assigned, supervise and monitor an Occupational Therapy Assistant as required by the Connecticut State Department of Education and Department of Public Health. Opportunity to provide fieldwork supervision of occupational therapy interns per existing agreements.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program recognized by NBCOT.
- Current professional registration with NBCOT and Connecticut State License issued by the Department of Public Health.
- Graduated from an accredited occupational therapy professional program and completed all fieldwork requirements.
- Minimum two years of occupational therapy experience, preferably in a school system or pediatric practice setting.
- Maintain knowledge of school system practice, including influences of disabilities on learning, laws, evaluations, interventions, and service delivery models.
Travel Requirements
Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide transportation to job sites, meetings, trainings, and professional learning opportunities.
