Ming Yang Smart Energy

Onshore Platform Lead

Stellenbeschreibung:

Ming Yang is an innovative renewable energy company focused on the development, construction, and operation of sustainable energy projects such as On- and Offshore wind, solar, and energy storage solutions. We are committed to accelerating the energy transition through technically robust and commercially viable projects across international markets.

About the Role

The Onshore Platform Lead is a senior role within the European Business & Engineering Center with end-to-end accountability for the MySE onshore turbine platform in Europe. The role owns the onshore product roadmap, drives market-facing technical and commercial activities, and coordinates closely with the R&D and engineering teams at MySE headquarters in Zhongshan (China), who execute the bulk of the design and development work. The Platform Lead acts as the technical face of the onshore product to European customers, partners and internal stakeholders, and is a key driver of onshore revenue growth across new turbine sales and service. Success in this role requires balancing product strategy, commercial engagement and cross-cultural engineering coordination, ensuring that the MySE onshore platform is competitive, certifiable and commercially successful in the European market.

Responsibilities

Onshore Product Roadmap and Strategy

  • Own and maintain the European onshore product roadmap, in close cooperation with Commercial, Sales and Product Strategy.
  • Define platform variants, ratings, rotor and tower options, and operational modes required to address target European markets (DACH, Central Eastern Europe, Nordics, Iberia and beyond).
  • Translate market trends, regulatory changes, grid code evolution and customer feedback into product requirements and roadmap updates.
  • Benchmark the MySE onshore platform against key competitors (Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, Nordex, GE, Enercon and relevant Chinese peers) on performance, cost, serviceability and LCOE.
  • Prioritise platform investments and derivatives based on commercial potential, certification effort and technical risk.

Market Sounding and Sales Support

  • Lead technical market sounding activities with developers, IPPs and utilities to shape and validate the onshore product offering.
  • Support Sales throughout the opportunity lifecycle, from early customer engagement through technical clarifications, proposal support and contract negotiation.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers, partners, grid operators, certification bodies and industry forums.
  • Contribute to pricing, configuration and technical-commercial trade‑off decisions for onshore bids.

Coordination with MySE R&D and Engineering HQ

  • Act as the primary European counterpart to the onshore engineering, product and programme teams at MySE headquarters in Zhongshan.
  • Translate European market, regulatory and customer requirements into structured input for the HQ engineering teams, using the established Technical Information Request process.
  • Coordinate design reviews, milestone gates and release decisions for the onshore platform, ensuring European requirements are reflected in the delivered product.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with HQ counterparts; travel to Zhongshan regularly for joint planning, design reviews and workshops.
  • Identify capability gaps between European expectations and HQ delivery, and work with the Director R&D Europe to address them structurally.

Service and Aftermarket Growth

  • Partner with the Service organisation to grow onshore service revenue, including service offerings, upgrades, performance optimisation packages and long‑term service agreements.
  • Channel field performance data, reliability insights and customer feedback into product improvements and service product definition.
  • Support definition of spare parts strategy, service tooling and field retrofits for the European onshore fleet.

Customer Communication and Technical Account Leadership

  • Serve as the senior technical point of contact for key onshore customers in Europe, from early engagement through project execution and operation.
  • Manage customer-facing technical issues, escalations and improvement requests, coordinating responses across Hamburg and Zhongshan.
  • Represent MySE onshore at industry events, customer site visits and technical conferences.

Project Management and Delivery

  • Lead or co‑lead European onshore project engineering activities from contract signature through commissioning.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure on‑time, on‑spec and on‑budget delivery of onshore projects.
  • Track project‑level technical risks, interface points and open topics, and drive them to closure.
  • Ensure smooth handover from sales to execution, and from execution to service.

Certification and Regulatory Alignment

  • Support European type certification and project certification activities for the onshore platform, in cooperation with the certification body and the Director R&D Europe.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC 61400 series standards, national grid codes, and country‑specific onshore regulatory requirements.
  • Anticipate regulatory changes (grid codes, environmental, noise, aviation, safety) and feed them into the roadmap.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Work across R&D Europe, Solutions Engineering, Transport & Installation, BESS, Service, Sales and Commercial to align the onshore platform with company‑wide objectives.
  • Contribute to the build‑up of the European organisation as a senior role model, sharing knowledge and mentoring more junior team members.
  • Represent the European perspective in global onshore platform governance forums.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Energy or related). Business or Commercial qualification in addition is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in the onshore wind industry, with a meaningful portion at a global OEM. Prior experience at a Tier 1 global OEM is highly sought after.
  • Proven track record across product management, platform engineering, project engineering or technical sales for onshore wind turbines.
  • Demonstrated experience owning or shaping a product roadmap and translating market requirements into product definition.
  • Strong understanding of the onshore wind value chain: development, permitting, grid, logistics, installation, commissioning, operation and service.
  • Working knowledge of IEC 61400 standards, European grid codes and the European onshore regulatory landscape.
  • Experience engaging with external stakeholders: developers, utilities, IPPs, certification bodies, grid operators and regulators.
  • Experience working with or within a Chinese OEM, or in a Europe–China engineering context, is a strong advantage.

Skills

  • Strong strategic thinking combined with hands‑on delivery focus; able to move between roadmap‑level decisions and detailed project topics.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and customer orientation; comfortable in front of senior customer stakeholders.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to commercial and executive audiences.
  • Strong cross‑cultural competence; able to work effectively with Chinese engineering teams and European commercial environments.
  • Highly structured, well organised and able to manage multiple parallel topics with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to build consensus and drive alignment across geographically distributed and multi‑functional teams without direct line authority.
  • Languages: English (fluent, working language) is required. German is an advantage. Mandarin Chinese is a significant advantage, given the intensity of coordination with MySE headquarters.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 30 to 40 percent), including regular trips to Zhongshan, China, and to European customer and project sites.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to build and shape a rapidly growing organization in Europe within one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers
  • Strong growth and development opportunities as we expand our European operations
  • A truly international environment, working closely with colleagues across Europe and Asia
  • A high‑performing, diverse team with an entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset
  • The chance to make a real impact in the energy transition and contribute to a more sustainable future
  • Competitive compensation and benefits, aligned with local market practices
