As part of the Asset Integrity Management Team the Operations Engineer – Balance of Plant (BoP) is responsible for the structural integrity of the foundation systems, secondary steel structures and subsea cables of the NSC Offshore Windfarm. This implies the definition, implementation and optimisation of maintenance and servicing concepts, as well as organisation and implementation of necessary repair campaigns and retrofits, including management of corresponding service contracts.
About the role
- Responsible for the asset integrity of the balance of plant systems in the windfarm, which includes WTG and OSS foundations, secondary steel structures and subsea cable systems
- Planning, coordinating, and supervising scheduled maintenance and repair works, managing associated risks, budget (MTP) and spare parts inventory
- Main interface to the central Geo Information System (GIS) Team, planning and managing bathymetric surveys and underwater ROV campaigns
- Monitoring the environmental impact on the foundation structures (with a Structure Health Monitoring System / SHMS) to ensure asset integrity during lifetime of the windfarm
- Compliance with health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards, applicable laws and regulations
- Provide technical support to the operations team. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA), develop repair strategies and coordinate related campaigns in collaboration with RWE central expert teams
- Managing service contracts and warranty claims with the asset manufacturers (OEMs), service providers and regulators. Supervising statutory inspections for BoP
- Ensuring continuous improvement and optimisation of maintenance and repair strategies, as well as identifying and realising synergies across the offshore fleet
- Utilise standard CAD software (e.g. Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD) and understand associated standards
Job requirements and experience
- University degree in mechanical/civil engineering, plant engineering, shipbuilding or comparable qualification
- Minimum 5 years experience in operation and maintenance of offshore foundations, steel structures, subsea cables and subsea conditions
- Proven track record in project & stakeholder management
- High interest in marine and subsea systems and related work scope
- Commercial understanding and experience in contract negotiations
- Experience in CAD design of offshore structures/ships and robust knowledge of material science
- Ability and fitness to work offshore as well as at height
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent written and spoken English and German
