The Role:

We are looking for a technically skilled and hands-on individual to support the manufacture and inspection of high-precision optical components.

You will work independently across a range of optical manufacturing processes, including the alignment, cementing, lapping and polishing of optical components. Quality and precision will be central to your work, with responsibility for inspecting components against technical drawings and specifications and using a variety of conventional and interferometric measurement techniques.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a technical or scientific vocational background who enjoys precise, practical work and would like to develop their career within advanced optical manufacturing.

What you will be doing:

• Independently process and manufacture optical components using a range of specialist techniques.
• Carry out cementing, alignment, lapping and polishing of optical components.
• Work accurately to technical drawings, datasheets and defined product specifications.
• Perform quality inspections to ensure components meet the required technical and quality standards.
• Carry out conventional testing and measurement of optical components.
• Perform interferometric testing of optical components.
• Use a variety of measurement techniques to assess component quality and conformity.
• Take ownership of the quality and accuracy of your work while contributing to a collaborative manufacturing environment.

About You:

You are a practical and technically minded individual who enjoys working with precision and takes pride in producing high-quality work. You are comfortable working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a supportive team.

You will ideally bring:

• Successfully completed vocational training within a technical or chemical discipline.
• Relevant backgrounds could include Electronics Technician, Mechanic, Mechatronics Technician, Chemical Laboratory Assistant or a comparable technical qualification.
• Ideally, previous experience working within manufacturing or industrial production.
• A strong practical and hands-on approach to technical work.
• An interest in developing specialist knowledge within optical manufacturing and measurement.
• The ability to work carefully and accurately when following technical drawings, datasheets and specifications.
• Good Microsoft Office skills.
• A collaborative approach and willingness to learn and develop within the team.
